Actually, I decided to write this because of a particular incident that happened the other day. I usually don't drink, and when I do, I have one. My favorite is Smirnoff Ice Triple Black, but that's beside the point right now. Anyways, because of my non-alcoholic tendencies, I have the honor of being designated driver. I don't mind, since I have say over when we leave. It is kind of a pain in the ass, though; since I don't trust the freeway, and I don't have my own car (I borrow my mom's.) All the good clubs and bars are downtown, and that's a ways to go from my neighborhood. This, coupled with me only taking side streets, makes for a 20 minute ride (Give or take. I have a lead foot.)
Anyways, it was my friend Jessy's 21st birthday, and we all decided to go out. So, it was me, Jessy, and our other friend Christine. We all headed downtown, and immediately they got to drinking. I had my one, and settled back to watch them. Seriously, I feel like I have to baby-sit. They're drinking, and Christine is a borderline alcoholic, so she's
hammering them away. Jessy takes things a little slower. She had gone out the night
before and drank herself to puking DeGeneres and her mother leave New Orleans for the small town of Atlanta, Texas. Her older brother Vance, 18, stays in New Orleans with their father, Elliott, an insurance salesman. In Texas, DeGeneres is secretly molested by her new stepfather as her mother struggles with breast cancer. After she graduates high school and moves back to New Orleans, she finally tells her mother the truth.

Jerry Falwell proclaims her "Ellen DeGenerate," while the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation later gives her a special honor. "I didn't choose to be anything other than a comedian," she tells Time. "I just happen to be gay, and I didn't feel like keeping it a secret, so I announced it. It all turned into this whole big political thing."
